Film: Nosferatu (dir. Robert Eggers) Cinemas from 1st January

Fans of director Robert Eggers (The Northman, The Lighthouse, The Witch) will be grateful for the lingering dark nights this January. Eggers version of the early cinema horror classic ‘Nosferatu’ is sure to set spines tingling! Starring Bill Skarsgård, Lilly-Rose Depp and Willem Defoe, Egger’s version bears many visual echoes of the earlier film, especially in its use of moving shadows. Updated for 2025 some really disgusting gore has been included and a couple of big jump scares making this film an effective, extremely old school horror film steeped in a tradition that’s unnerved fans for over a century.

TV: Prime Target (Apple TV from 22nd January)

“Prime Target” features a brilliant young maths postgraduate, Edward Brooks (played by Leo Woodall), who is on the verge of a major breakthrough. If he succeeds in finding a pattern in prime numbers, he will hold the key to every computer in the world. Soon, he begins to realise an unseen enemy is trying to destroy his idea before it’s even born, which throws him into the orbit of Taylah Sanders, a female NSA agent (played by Quintessa Swindell) who’s been tasked with watching and reporting on the mathematicians’ behaviour. Together, they start to unravel the troubling conspiracy Edward is at the heart of.
