10 Years Old!
Glascote Community Managed Library is 10 years old on 22nd June! Run by volunteers we have come a long way in 10 years. With 11 regular groups – a book club (of course!), Chair-obics, Scrabble and Backgammon and two craft groups. Activities for babies and children up to school age to learn, and play with Lego Club every Saturday between 10 and 11am. Middleton's 100th Fete!
This is a very special year as Middleton, near Tamworth, is proud to be holding its 100th Village Fete on Saturday, 11th July, on the Village Green and plans are underway to make it the best yet! Middleton’s first Fete was held in August 1925, and with a break due to Covid, the 100th fete is upon us in 2026. Back then it was fun for a gathering of villagers, raising funds for the church. A Local Treasure
Ashby Show, one of the region’s longest-running countryside events, celebrates its 110th show in 2026. First held on Saturday 3rd September 1904 at the Bath Grounds in Ashby de la Zouch, the event was originally created to promote the advancement of livestock breeding through friendly competition, while giving farmers the opportunity to socialise and trade breeding stock. An Early Christmas Treat
Following the great success of their concert with Shifnal and District Male Voice Choir at Polesworth Abbey on Saturday 11th October, the ladies of Tamworth Ladies’ Choir are now starting the build up to their annual Christmas Concert. This will be held at St Editha’s Church Community Rooms in College Lane, Tamworth, B79 7LP commencing at 14.30 on Sunday 7th December.
