Film: The Dog Stars
(Disney, dir. Ridley Scott, cinemas from 28th August)
Ridley Scott directs this post-apocalyptic thriller based on Peter Heller's novel. Following a catastrophic flu pandemic, Hig (Jacob Elordi) lives a solitary existence on an abandoned Colorado airbase. His only companions are his loyal dog and a hardened ex-Marine named Bangley (Josh Brolin), together fending off roaming scavengers known as "The Reapers."
When a mysterious radio transmission crackles through Hig's 1956 Cessna, it ignites a spark of hope. Risking everything, he flies past his point of no return, following the static-broken trail into the unknown. His journey leads to a crash landing at a secluded ranch, where he encounters Cima (Margaret Qualley), a physician, and her protective father (Guy Pearce).
Together, this makeshift family must navigate a brutal world where trust is scarce and survival is never guaranteed. The film also features Allison Janney and Benedict Wong in what Scott has called "maybe my best movie."
