Winter is fast approaching but fear-not sports fans – there is plenty of sporting drama to keep you warm and entertained until the tulips begin peering from the ground again!

Across a number of sports, we are going to be shouting with joy and despair over the coming months – here’s just a few of the upcoming dramas about to unfold.

The Premier League season is now well underway and shaping up to be the most competitive for a number of years.

Liverpool’s domination of last season seems to have disappeared as quickly as it arrived with ‘The Reds’ having suffered 4 consecutive defeats leaving them staring up at Arsenal, who currently lead the way.  Having finished second for the last 3 seasons, ‘The Gunners’ need to take that extra step this year, otherwise fans will begin to question Mikel Arteta’s ability to get them over the line.

Will Arsenal hold their nerve?

Liverpool are still ‘in-there’ though and Manchester City look to be on the way back after last seasons poor performance.  As an outside bet, Chelsea could benefit from the apparent inconsistencies around them and a 3 or 4 way race will keep everyone entertained.

Aston Villa appear to be back and they will be battling with the usual suspects for European qualification again, whilst Europa League glory offers another route into next seasons Champions League.

The Championship looks like being another fascinating race with Coventry City currently setting the pace in the quest for Premier League riches – Birmingham and Wrexham are discovering just how competitive this league is and are both closer to the dreaded relegation spots at the moment.

In cricket, the Ashes in Australia kick-off this month with England looking to end a long period of dominance by the ever confident (and annoying) Aussies.

England will be unleashing a bowling attack of significant pace on the traditionally flat Aussie pitches and we should expect the usual niggly, controversy-filled encounters!

In the Women’s World Cup, currently taking place in India, England have qualified for the semi-finals with 2 games to spare and as with the men’s Ashes series, we will need to defeat the Aussies at some point if we are to taste glory!

Formula 1 looks like serving up their most dramatic seasons-end in many years with McLarens increasingly tetchy duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri battling at the top of the World Championship – however – Red Bulls Max Verstappen’s recent return to form has put him firmly back into contention and he is now living in the McLaren drivers heads… completely rent-free – don’t rule him out!

Hold-Tight! – It’s going to be an exciting Winter!
