Lifesavers at sea

After such a successful 200th Anniversary Year, we’re launching our 2026 programme of events with high hopes of matching, or even beating, last year’s results.  The support of Tamworth and Lichfield residents has been wonderful and we look forward to meeting more of you at our events.  We started our efforts with a bucket collection at Tesco Extra in Lichfield on Friday 28th of March, followed by a lunchtime “coffee morning” in aid of the RNLI’s Mayday Appeal in May at the Guildhall in Lichfield.  Lots of lovely cake and plenty of stalls to browse!

Like many charities,  the RNLI has a constant battle to meet ever rising overheads for equipment to keep our lifesavers safe.  The unpaid volunteer crews ask for nothing more than knowing that you care enough to help them continue their valuable service.  After being on a shout, sometimes  for 8 - 10 hours in the wee small hours, often in the most horrendous weather, the “feel good” factor compensates in no small way for the exhaustion and risks they take.  Knowing someone has survived to welcome a new grandchild, attend their son or daughter’s wedding, or just returned safely to their loved ones must be such a great feeling. We couldn’t all do it - but a visit to one of our events contributes in no small way!
