With the 2025/26 football season now well under-way, lets look at where our clubs currently sit, on and off the field.

Aston Villa – Where do we even start with the Villans?

Joy and optimism following three years of major progress for Unai Emery’s men has now dissipated completely, and been replaced with concern and anger from the Villa fan-base as their club failed to win any of their first 6 games this season, and failed to score a league goal until last Saturdays lamentable draw against newly promoted ten-man Sunderland.

Things are not quite right at Villa Park and this week’s sacking of Director of Football (Monchi) hinted at issues both on and off the field.

With consecutive home-games to come, the next couple of weeks with define Villa’s season as Emery tries to get his team back on-track.  Sulking and out-of-form players need to be dealt with and reminded that it was their ineptitude in last seasons FA Cup semi-final and last game of the season at Old Trafford which has placed the club in its current malaise – grow-up and get on with it!

Birmingham City – A season of consolidation?

Blues fans were full of confidence before this seasons opener against Ipswich, with a large portion of the fan-base predicting automatic promotion to the Premier League was just a formality – however, with the Championship regarded as the world’s most difficult league to get out of, those sensible blue-noses knew that it would be a tough and sobering 12 months.

That said; ‘The Blues’ have started reasonably well and I have a sneaky feeling that although automatic promotion is a stretch, the men from Small Heath with finish in the divisions top-6 and make the lottery of the play-offs!

West Bromwich Albion – Baggie optimism?

Albion certainly took a gamble with the appointment of rookie manager Ryan Mason.  But their faith in his potential has been rewarded with an excellent start to the season which see’s his team hovering around the play-off spots.

Supporters did not have high-expectations for the season, however a place in the top-6 does not look beyond them and joining rivals ‘Blues’ in the play-offs is a realistic aim.

Wolverhampton Wanderers – Oh dear!

I won’t exacerbate Wolves’ fans current pain and anguish further!

Things can only get better and the men from Molineux need to get their season going and move off the bottom of the Premier League quickly if a nerve-wracking, season long relegation fight is to be avoided!

Finally; a word or two for Tamwoth FC – who are once again making a nonsense of their playing budget and have started the season superbly (currently sat in the National leagues play-off spots).

COME ON THE LAMBS!!
