Ashby Show, one of the region’s longest-running countryside events, celebrates its 110th show in 2026. First held on Saturday 3rd September 1904 at the Bath Grounds in Ashby de la Zouch, the event was originally created to promote the advancement of livestock breeding through friendly competition, while giving farmers the opportunity to socialise and trade breeding stock.
Over the years, the show has become a much-loved annual tradition, only pausing during the First and Second World Wars, the 2001 Foot and Mouth outbreak, and the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The event remained at the Bath Grounds until 1966 before moving to Calke Park, then Measham Lodge Farm, and finally to its current home at Cattows Farm in Heather in 2013.
Today, Ashby Show continues to thrive thanks to its dedicated team of volunteers. Livestock classes remain at the heart of the event alongside equine showing and showjumping competitions. Visitors can also enjoy exciting Main Ring entertainment, family attractions, children’s activities, and a wide variety of food and drink. With plenty of seating and picnic areas available, the Ashby Show offers a fantastic day out for all ages.
